A lot of infrastructure – such as roads, bridges, tunnels, quay walls and locks – is approaching the end of its design life. Billions will have to be spent on replacement and renovation in the coming years. It is a complex task, as there is often a lack of knowledge about the actual condition of these objects. Furthermore, information about the design and construction is often limited or unavailable. This makes planning and budgeting for replacement and renovation a puzzle with many uncertainties. Iv helps operators establish the actual condition and structural safety of the area and assets they manage by providing advice on the risks, measures, planning, and costs involved. We have been doing this successfully for many years.
Iv has all the disciplines required to solve the complex replacement and renovation puzzle under one roof. We conduct inspections, research and monitoring, load testing, surveying, drilling and 3D scanning. We combine the results with in-depth knowledge of mechanics, structures and asset management. We have developed a range of methods that enable us to quickly and cost-effectively map the current state of the infrastructure in an area. In other words, does the structure meet legal safety requirements, and how long will a bridge, road surface, quay wall or lock last? We examine the remaining lifespan of infrastructure and whether it can remain in service at all. Examples of the methods we use include Structural Safety Assessment and load testing. These innovative methods prevent structures from being demolished and replaced unnecessarily.
Iv works worldwide on unique projects that are of great importance to society. From offshore wind platforms, unique bridges and the world’s largest lock gates to buildings, factories, water treatment plants, container cranes and more. We deliver workable solutions of the highest quality for issues of all sizes and complexities.
