The project

The need to optimise and support gas and condensate production in the Alba field, located north of the capital Malabo on the island of Bioko, led to the installation of the Alba B3 compression platform.

The challenge

The project was complex and required collaboration across multiple locations worldwide. The Alba B3 compression platform was designed, constructed, and installed in a partnership between Iv and Heerema Fabrication Group. The design and construction processes took place in various locations, including the Netherlands and the United States for design and the Netherlands and Equatorial Guinea for construction. The joint efforts of both partners enabled them to successfully manage the platform’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).

The impact

Thanks to the successful installation of the Alba B3 compression platform, gas and condensate production in the Alba field could be optimised. The complex project highlighted the importance of international collaboration and expertise in the design, construction, and installation of offshore facilities. The joint efforts of Iv and Heerema Fabrication Group resulted in the effective and efficient realisation of the platform, contributing to improving energy production and infrastructure in the region.
