Our client, a leading tank storage company, has initiated the construction of a new state-of-the-art production tank terminal. It has a capacity of over 80,000 cubic metres.
Iv was responsible for the basic and detailed engineering of two new tank pits. One of these pits comprises 16 new storage tanks, including all necessary pumps, valves and safety provisions. The second tank pit comprises 40 new storage tanks and also includes all the required pumps, valves and safety provisions.
Iv’s work consisted of pipework, mechanical and building engineering for the product pipes, utility pipes and pipe racks. The work also included 3D modelling and conducting stress and strength calculations. As a follow-up to this project, Iv has been commissioned to provide the engineering for the adjustments required to connect the new tank pits to the existing jetty.
There was an urgent need to create additional storage capacity, which resulted in considerable pressure to speed up the design process. Thanks to the close collaboration between Iv and the client, the schedule was achieved, and the requirements were fulfilled.
Because Iv delivered the engineering in such a short time, the client was able to realise the new terminal in accordance with the tight schedule, thereby providing timely service to its customers.
