How do we ensure that dike reinforcements remain suitable and affordable while making the Netherlands climate-proof? At Iv, we love technically complex challenges. Every project is a brain teaser that forces us to think beyond standard solutions. Do you want to contribute to protecting the Netherlands against flooding and nuisance flooding? As a junior water safety designer, you will work on the water safety task under the supervision of experienced colleagues on numerous projects. You will work with other consultants and designers on primary and regional flood defences, including flood-defence structures.
As a designer, you will be involved in calculating, designing and reporting on flood defences and their relevant failure mechanisms. You will build your knowledge on the job through projects, mentoring by experienced colleagues and courses.
We are currently working on projects such as dike reinforcement in the city of Tiel, reinforcement of the Havendijk in Den Helder, dike reinforcement of the Krachtige IJsseldijken Krimpenerwaard, dike reinforcement of the Canalised Hollandsche IJssel North and reinforcing the dikes in Willemstad Noordschans. These projects are all part of the High Water Protection Programme (HWBP). In addition, we carry out numerous assessments and reinforcement projects on regional flood defences throughout the country, such as the Amsteldijk. We are also involved in the improvement of various regional flood defences within the Delfland District Water Control Board, from variant study and sketch design to implementation design. We work on the above projects independently and in collaboration with other engineering companies.

We provide integral advice for steel and concrete civil engineering works, hydraulic engineering, spatial planning, upkeep, traffic and infrastructure installations and railways. We also offer specialist services in spatial measurement and monitoring structures, RAMS and risk management, asset management, systems engineering, contract management, project management, and supervision.
You have a higher vocational/university level degree (HBO/WO) in civil engineering, water management, or a similar field and have an affinity for water safety and our living environment. You are passionate about sustainability and automation. You have strong analytical skills and an eye for quality, and you enjoy working as a team. Your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn are equally important. This will help you and us shape your development in this fascinating field. Regardless of your fixed location (Haarlem or Sliedrecht), you are willing to work from different locations.
