Work on leading hydraulic engineering structures in the Netherlands!

At Iv, we love working on solutions for the major challenges within the (wet) infrastructure in the Netherlands. Every project is a brain teaser that forces us to think beyond standard solutions, and we could use your help to do that. Within a team of juniors, intermediates and seniors, you will work together on simple and complex hydraulic engineering structures for different types of clients. As a starting designer, you will work on numerous projects involving hydraulic engineering tasks under the supervision of experienced colleagues. In collaboration with other consultants and designers, your work will encompass the design of harbour quays, inner-city quays, structures in flood defences and soil and embankment protection. As a designer, your work will include calculation, design and reporting, and you will build your knowledge on the job through projects, mentoring by experienced colleagues and courses.

The diversity of our project portfolio is vast. We are currently working on the integral design for the renovation of the National Monument flood lock in Gouda. We are also preparing to renovate the flood lock in Zierikzee and the navigation lock in Middelharnis. The sea quay Kade Het Nieuwe Werk is currently being realised, for which we have drawn up the entire design and are carrying out the implementation supervision and back-office responsibilities. For the municipalities of Amsterdam and Utrecht, among others, we provide advice and design for (historic) inner-city quays. We design (longitudinal) structures in a complex urban environment, such as for the High Water Protection Programme (HWBP) project dike reinforcement in the city of Tiel and in an existing port as part of the reinforcement of the Havendijk in Den Helder project. In addition, we assess the designs of various flood defence structures within the HWBP, such as the dike reinforcement of the Krachtige IJsseldijken Krimpenerwaard. Our projects are often multidisciplinary, and we carry them out in close collaboration with the other structural disciplines within Iv. These include consultants, structural engineers, designers and modellers specialising in geotechnics, concrete, steel and mechanical engineering.

Iv provides tailor-made and innovative designs and advice for constructing and maintaining sustainable infrastructure. You may already be familiar with our involvement in the new IJMuiden sea lock, the Zandhazen Bridge or the design of the Panama Canal lock gates. By developing and applying the latest technologies, we offer ready-made and sustainable solutions for not only today's societal challenges but also those of tomorrow! We provide integral advice for steel and concrete civil engineering works, hydraulic engineering, spatial planning, upkeep, traffic and infrastructure installations and railways. We also offer specialist services in spatial measurement and monitoring structures, RAMS and risk management, asset management, systems engineering, contract management, project management, and supervision.

What do we expect from you?

You have a higher vocational/university level degree (HBO/WO) in civil engineering and an affinity with hydraulic engineering. You are passionate about sustainability and automation. This will help you and us shape your development in this fascinating field. Regardless of your fixed location (Haarlem or Sliedrecht), you are willing to work from different locations.
