Work on leading hydraulic engineering structures in the Netherlands!
The tasks within the (wet) infrastructure in the Netherlands are vast
At Iv, we seek out these complex and technical projects and together with our clients, we take on the challenges. Every project is a brain teaser that forces us to think beyond standard solutions, and we could use your help. As part of a team of juniors, intermediates and seniors, you will work together on simple and complex hydraulic structures for different types of clients. As a consultant, you will be involved in designing and advising on harbour quays, inner-city quays, flood defence structures, hydraulic engineering structures and soil and bank protection. For various projects, you will be the main point of contact for colleagues and clients. You will be responsible for the approach, substantive guidance of colleagues, and quality of work. You will also maintain and develop your knowledge of hydraulic engineering.
The diversity of our project portfolio is vast. We are currently working on the integral design for the renovation of the National Monument flood lock in Gouda. We are also preparing to renovate the flood lock in Zierikzee and the navigation lock in Middelharnis. The sea quay Kade Het Nieuwe Werk is currently being realised, for which we have drawn up the entire design and are carrying out the implementation supervision. For the municipalities of Amsterdam and Utrecht, among others, we provide advice and design for (historic) inner-city quays. We design (longitudinal) structures in a complex urban environment for the High Water Protection Programme (HWBP) project dike reinforcement in the city of Tiel and in an existing port as part of the reinforcement of the Havendijk in Den Helder project. In addition, we assess the designs of various flood defence structures within the HWBP, such as the dike reinforcement of the Krachtige IJsseldijken Krimpenerwaard. Our projects are often multidisciplinary, and we collaborate closely with the other structural disciplines within Iv. These include consultants, structural engineers, designers and modellers specialising in geotechnics, concrete, steel and mechanical engineering. This position also offers the opportunity to progress within the projects towards the role of design leader or technical manager.
Iv provides tailor-made and innovative designs and advice for constructing and maintaining sustainable infrastructure. You may already be familiar with our involvement in the new IJmuiden sea lock, the Zandhazen Bridge or the design of the Panama Canal lock gates. By developing and applying the latest technologies, we offer ready-made and sustainable solutions for not only today's societal challenges but also those of tomorrow! We provide integral advice for steel and concrete civil engineering works, hydraulic engineering, spatial planning, upkeep, traffic and infrastructure installations and railways. We also offer specialist services in spatial measurement and monitoring structures, RAMS and risk management, asset management, systems engineering, contract management, project management, and supervision.
You have a higher vocational or university education (HBO/WO) in civil engineering and at least three years of work experience in the field of hydraulic engineering. You have strong analytical skills, an eye for quality, and the ability to independently perform and/or coordinate the hydraulic engineering tasks within multidisciplinary projects. You must also feel comfortable working on both government and contractor projects. We consider your enthusiasm and drive to be equally important. You know exactly how to identify the client's real needs and translate them into an approach to the work to be carried out. You are familiar with the latest developments in (anchored) sheet piling, hydraulic structures, standards and guidelines for hydraulic structures and the BOI for primary flood defences. Your extensive knowledge and experience enable you to support and guide colleagues. You are capable of signalling and analysing relevant developments and changes in the work field. Demonstrable experience with software packages such as D-Series and Plaxis is an advantage.
Regardless of your fixed location (Haarlem or Sliedrecht), you are willing to work from different locations.
