NTA 8790 assessment – Poppodium 013

Commissioned by the municipality of Tilburg, Iv assessed the structural safety of Poppodium 013 in accordance with NTA 8790. The building, which opened in 1998 as the first venue in the Netherlands specifically designed for live pop music, underwent a major renovation in 2015, during which both the capacity and facilities were expanded. The venue now houses two concert halls with a combined capacity of 5,150 visitors.

Due to its large audience capacity, Poppodium 013 falls under Consequence Class CC3 and phase 1 of the statutory assessment of structural safety. The main load-bearing structure consists of a steel truss roof on precast concrete columns and calcium silicate walls, with floors made of both in-situ concrete and precast systems. Iv carried out a technical inspection and analysed the construction dossier to map out the key structural elements. Thanks to its experience with large public buildings and a clear assessment framework, Iv quickly gained a comprehensive and reliable understanding of the situation.

Through this assessment, Iv contributes to ensuring the structural safety of a building that is frequented by thousands of people every day. Through thorough investigation and clear reporting, Iv supports the municipality of Tilburg in maintaining Poppodium 013 in good and safe condition.
