Limiting climate change requires a CO2-free electricity system. The process of electrification is well underway. Solar and wind energy are being used on a large scale to replace gas and coal. Demand for renewable energy continues to grow due to the electrification of the transport, built environment, industry and agriculture sectors. The result: grid congestion. In the Netherlands, every province is struggling with a lack of capacity in the electricity grid. The challenge lies in accelerating the electrification process while maintaining the security of supply. Iv offers solutions for this.
To accelerate the electrification process, we design structures such as offshore transformer platforms and floating solar parks, provide solutions for electrifying buildings, industry and marine vessels, and design charging infrastructure. Capacity shortages in the electricity grid are expected to continue in the coming years. Network operators are already working hard on solutions to tackle the problems caused by grid congestion. Iv is helping network operators to develop these solutions. An example is our design for the 18 new high-voltage pylons for TenneT.
Iv works worldwide on unique projects that are of great importance to society. From offshore wind platforms, unique bridges and the world’s largest lock gates to buildings, factories, water treatment plants, container cranes and more. We deliver workable solutions of the highest quality for issues of all sizes and complexities.
