Working on naval vessels in day-to-day use

As an Engineer, you will work on technical challenges relating to naval vessels. Based in Den Helder, you will be closely involved in day-to-day operations and engage directly with the client to develop solutions in line with the use and maintenance of the vessels.

You are the direct point of contact for our client in Den Helder. You take on these tasks independently and see them through to completion. In doing so, you coordinate with various disciplines within Nevesbu and ensure that solutions are feasible. You arrange and carry out engineering modifications that contribute to better-functioning systems on board. You actively participate in technical developments and monitor quality and progression. You will gain in-depth knowledge of naval vessels and understand how systems interact and influence one another. Thanks to your efforts, ships will become more operationally effective and easier to maintain. You think ahead, identify bottlenecks and tackle them pragmatically.

In addition to your work in engineering and technology, you will also act as our eyes and ears in Den Helder for potential new engineering projects. You will therefore proactively visit the various engineering departments on a weekly basis to support the client and actively seek out new opportunities for Nevesbu.

You will work in a team of engineers in Den Helder and Rotterdam. The lines of communication are short and the responsibility is significant. Together with the client, you form a strong team that adapts quickly and delivers immediate results.

What do we expect from you?

  • A completed higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) degree in Maritime, Mechanical, Electrical or Naval Architecture

  • At least 3 to 5 years’ relevant work experience

  • In possession of VCA-VOL and VGB certification, or willing to obtain these

  • Strong customer-focused approach and ability to communicate in Dutch

  • Ability to think holistically and a solution-oriented approach

  • An affinity with naval vessels and technical systems

  • Willing to work three days a week in Den Helder and one day in Rotterdam
