Lead Mechanical Engineer

Design the most complex and unique steel structures

When you visit the Johan Cruijff ArenA, do you usually focus on the playing field? That’s perfectly understandable. But the retractable roof – designed by Iv – is just as interesting. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer at Iv, you will be working on unique structures like this. From landmarks such as the London Eye and gigantic offshore installations to the Jacket Lift System of the world’s largest pipe-laying vessel and moving parts in amusement parks.

Together with your team, you translate technically almost impossible problems into feasible designs. You manage engineers and designers, make and check calculations, coordinate with other disciplines and keep an eye on the big picture. You contribute ideas throughout the entire process – from initial feasibility to detailed design – and ensure that the design meets the customer’s requirements. You also regularly meet with customers to discuss designs. Or you advise a customer on the purchase of a product. You also remain actively involved in the technical work itself: from setting up a design to making calculations.

You will be part of a team of 28 colleagues, a mix of young talent and experienced techies. Everyone works with the same drive: to achieve a good end result. The atmosphere is informal. It’s easy to drop in on each other. We help each other out. You bring your experience and in return you get plenty of space and trust.

What do we expect from you?

• You have at least a higher professional education (HBO) degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• At least 8 years of experience in design and engineering.

• Experience with dynamically loaded structures is a plus.

• You enjoy managing colleagues and monitoring technical aspects.

• You are meticulous and communicate clearly.

• Good command of Dutch and English.
