Assessment of NTA 8790 at De Vijverberg Stadium

Commissioned by De Graafschap, Iv carried out an assessment of the structural safety of De Vijverberg Stadium in Doetinchem in accordance with NTA 8790. The stadium was built in 1954 and has a capacity of 12,600 spectators. Over the years, it has undergone several renovations, with a major redevelopment taking place between 1998 and 2000. The stadium is used for professional football and includes, among other things, skyboxes and an office building on the main stand side. Iv conducted a technical inspection and reviewed the construction dossier to identify the key structural components.

De Vijverberg Stadium falls under consequence class CC3 and phase 1 of the statutory assessment in accordance with NTA 8790. In addition, the Protocol for Assessing Structural Safety of Professional Football Stadiums also applies. The stadium consists of four precast concrete stands forming a rectangle. The roofs of the stands are made of steel, with the roof of the main stand partially anchored to the adjacent office building.

With extensive experience in assessing large public structures, Iv delivered a complete and reliable overview of the structural safety of De Vijverberg Stadium. The results have been recorded in a report for review by the competent authority. In doing so, Iv supports De Graafschap in complying with applicable regulations and contributes to the safe and future-proof use of the stadium for players, supporters, and staff.
