NTA 8790 assessment – Rat Verlegh Stadium

Commissioned by the municipality of Breda, Iv carried out an assessment of the structural safety of Rat Verlegh Stadium, home of NAC Breda. The assessment was conducted in accordance with the Protocol for Assessing Structural Safety of Professional Football Stadiums and NTA 8790. The stadium has a capacity of over 20,500 spectators, making it one of the largest public structures in the Netherlands.

A stadium is a dynamic structure: its structural condition can change over time due to use, ageing, weather influences and material behaviour. Given its classification under Consequence Class 3 (CC3), a thorough assessment is legally required. Iv needed to quickly gain insight into the stadium’s structural condition and its maintenance history in order to issue a declaration for the upcoming football season. Through a risk-based audit of the managing party and additional spot checks, Iv quickly and accurately assessed the stadium’s structural safety.

Through this assessment, Iv has supported the municipality of Breda in complying with legislation and ensuring the safety of thousands of visitors. Thanks to its broad experience with public buildings and structural safety, Iv delivers a socially relevant contribution to the reliability and long-term resilience of major stadiums.
