Experience Internship & Graduation
Location Rotterdam, Alblasserdam, Almere, Arnhem, Delft, Haarlem, Nieuwegein, Papendrecht, Sliedrecht

Are you ready to design what others call impossible?

From movable bridges and iconic steel structures to wind platforms consisting of jackets and topsides: at Iv, you will work as a structural engineering intern on structures that are anything but standard.

During your internship or graduation project, you will be a full member of a multidisciplinary project team within, for example, our Energy and Offshore, Infrastructure and Water, or Buildings market. You will work on analysing and designing complex steel structures. This includes setting up FEM calculation models, performing strength, fatigue, and stability analyses, or optimising a challenging offshore frame. You will translate complex loads into smart, manufacturable designs that meet strict international standards. You will use specialist software and learn how your design fits into the bigger picture of mechanical, piping, HVAC and other disciplines.

You can get started on an existing assignment or work with our engineers to formulate a topic that perfectly matches your interests – whether they lie in offshore structures, infrastructure or buildings.

What do we expect from you?

  • You are enrolled in a higher professional education or university programme in Civil Engineering (preferably specialising in Structural Engineering, Hydraulic & Offshore Structures or Offshore Engineering).

  • You have a strong foundation in strength of materials and statics and apply this knowledge in structural analyses.

  • You preferably have experience with FEM software such as Ansys.

  • You have an affinity with steel structures and complex loads.

  • You are analytical, critical and think beyond standard solutions.

  • You show initiative, work independently and function well in a team.
