Swiss parent company Emmi focuses on supplying leading brands and niche markets in the dairy sector. Emmi needed to increase its production capacity in the Netherlands with a new factory opposite its existing factory in Etten-Leur. Emmi commissioned Iv to carry out the engineering, procurement and construction management from the start of the master plan design to the delivery of the new factory.
The new factory had to meet stringent food safety and sustainability requirements, while the integration with the existing facility and maintaining operational synergies presented complex challenges. Iv undertook the entire EPCM contract, which included engineering, procurement, construction management and preparing technical documentation for permits. The collaboration between Iv, Emmi and the suppliers was instrumental in developing an integral design that met Emmi’s hygiene standards and sustainability goals.
The result of the project is a modern and sustainable factory for drying goat’s milk that meets the highest food safety standards and has an efficient energy supply. The factory is equipped with an integral heat pump system and other sustainable features that contribute to Emmi’s sustainability goals. Through close collaboration between Iv and Emmi and by leveraging synergies between the existing and new facilities, the project was successfully completed on schedule despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The factory contributes to the growth of the goat milk powder market and strengthens Emmi’s position in the dairy sector.
