The growing offshore wind sector requires lightweight, efficient and cost-effective HVAC offshore substation platforms. Iv took on the challenge, developed a new concept to meet these needs, and won the project for the Neart Na Gaoithe Wind Farm off the coast of Scotland.
Technically sound designs can sometimes be too heavy and expensive. Iv designed a transformer platform with essential auxiliary systems and a modular structure. This lightweight and flexible design can be efficiently assembled from individual modules to meet the client’s technical requirements.
The Neart Na Gaoithe Wind Farm will generate 420-450 MW of electricity, enough to power half a million homes. This lightweight and efficient substation design paves the way for the further development of offshore wind projects that focus on cost savings, technical efficiency and sustainability.
