New storage facility for MSD

The project

MSD is the largest pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands. Due to new fire, environmental and occupational safety regulations for the storage of hazardous substances, the company needed a new storage facility. Iv prepared the concept and preliminary design for the building and all the building-related electrical and mechanical installations. Iv also provided inspection and technical support during the implementation phase.

The challenge

The new storage facility had to comply with stricter regulations, the so-called PGS-15 directive, issued by the national government. At the same time, logistical processes needed to be improved, and the new 1500-square-metre storage facility fully automated.

The impact

In addition to complete automation, which speeds up and improves the process, MSD’s new storage facility positively impacts the climate. The building is completely energy neutral thanks to the use of PV panels, optimised climate conditions and heat pump cooling and heating.
