Stability analysis & inclination test – Nexus

Van Oord’s Nexus is a new cable-laying vessel designed to install electrical cables for offshore wind farms. Nevesbu collaborated with Van Oord on the design of this new vessel.

Nevesbu was involved in the design of Van Oord’s cable-laying vessel Nexus from the outset. In particular, the damage stability requirements to ensure the safety of the many people on board combined with the long and low aft deck proved challenging in the design phase. In addition, the extensive amount of mission system equipment already on board added to the complexity of the final inclination test. The project was finalised with the preparation of the on-board stability documentation and was fully approved by Lloyd’s Register.
