As part of the national project ‘Digitalisering Mobiliteitsdata’, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has created the Data Top 15. This means that all road authorities must correctly and comprehensively record and maintain fifteen data items by 2024. Some examples of data items from this top 15 include mapping dynamic and static parking facilities, timely and correct registration of work and events, keeping logistical data such as preferred routes and restrictions up to date, maintaining a signage file and recording cycling data.
Iv assists road authorities in identifying missing data, checking and completing data items and provides advice on the management process. In 2022 and 2023, Iv supported the provinces of Noord-Holland and Flevoland in the Data Top 15 team. From 2023, we will support the province of Noord-Brabant in securing 3 data items in content and data management. We support more than 60 municipalities in mapping their infrastructure and securing data items for the Data Top 15.
The challenge is to support road authorities in adequately collecting and managing the required data items and helping them understand the usefulness and necessity thereof. This required technical expertise in data analysis and ICT, good communication skills and a deep understanding of mobility and spatial planning to interpret and apply the data effectively.
By recording 15 data items, road authorities can implement their mobility policy better and more efficiently. The data makes it possible to deal with mobility in new ways. This way, road authorities can respond more effectively to society’s needs and mobility challenges.
