Life extension of the Walrus class

The project

The Royal Navy’s Walrus-class submarine fleet is approaching the end of its service life. Life extension measures are required to ensure the Nevesbu-designed submarine fleet remains in service for longer.

The challenge

Upgrading the Walrus-class submarines with new technologies and systems required an effective project approach to ensure that all new modifications and systems were seamlessly integrated. Nevesbu, as the systems integrator, was responsible for designing and integrating all modifications and new systems in the Walrus-class submarines. Our work involved integrating various technologies, including a new command centre design, modern torpedoes, sensors, satellite communication systems and an advanced combat management system. The project approach was designed to ensure that all subsystems function as a whole and improve the performance and functionality of the submarines.
