Whether you are working on multiple small projects or fully focused on one large design, Iv has it all. We focus on structures in non-residential construction, from new builds to transformations. Examples include Eindhoven Airport, a sports park above the A4 motorway, animal enclosures in Blijdorp Zoo, and a data centre for TenneT.
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will independently design and calculate structures in various design stages. You will draw up specifications and work descriptions and maintain contact with clients, the design team and contractors in collaboration with a project manager. Visiting the construction site is also part of your duties: you will, of course, need to check whether the execution of the structure you designed is in line with the design.
You will not be doing all this alone: you will be working together with modellers, project leaders and other structural engineers. You will also regularly consult with specialists from other disciplines. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will also be a sparring partner for (younger) colleagues. You will ask critical questions, think ahead in projects and ensure that your designs are of high quality, safe and feasible.
In addition to non-residential construction, you will also work on civil engineering projects in the water market with an architectural focus, such as sewage treatment plants and pumping stations (in Ede, Renkum and Geestmerambacht, among other places). You will also carry out NTA inspections of existing structures such as theatres and football stadiums. This ensures that your work remains varied and technically challenging.
You will work from our office in Delft in a team of eleven structural engineers and modellers. Together, you will be part of a larger team of around 80 colleagues working on technically complex and special steel and movable structures. The atmosphere is informal and collegial, with short lines of communication and a high degree of mutual coordination. Large and smaller projects alternate, which ensures variety and dynamism in your work. New colleagues are well supervised and given the confidence to fulfil their role in their own way.
A higher professional education or university degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
At least 10 to 15 years of experience as a structural engineer
Experience with concrete and steel structures
Knowledge of existing buildings is an advantage
Proficient with Scia Engineer (or another FEM package) and familiar with the Eurocode
You are critical, analytical and a real team player.
Good command of the Dutch language is preferred
