The provincial road N256 passes over the two lock heads of the Zandkreekdam. A traffic control system controls the traffic on this road. The previous traffic control system had reached the end of its technical life and had to be replaced by a new system. On behalf of the Province of Zeeland, Iv supervised the process towards a new integrated traffic control system on the Zandkreekdam. Our role included developing the functional and technical requirements, drafting the contract documents, overseeing the tender process and providing expert advice during project implementation. We also carried out contract review, installation, testing and commissioning of the new traffic control system.
The challenge in this project was to replace the outdated traffic control system with minimal disruption to traffic on the N256 while at the same time constructing a new bypass for agricultural traffic, also designed by Iv.
Iv contributed to the smooth running of the project by preparing detailed contract documents and providing expert advice during the implementation phase. The result was improved traffic flow on the N256 and a safer infrastructure for all road users.
Wouter, managing director Infra and also COO of Iv, would be delighted to discuss this with you! Get in touch via +31 88 943 3200 or send a message.
